Quality policy

In a port market scenario characterized by fierce competition and high evolutionary dynamics, the Port Authority of Savona intends to pursue a business-oriented development strategy based on the continuous improvement of the port facilities and of the services provided, and oriented to the achievement of some main objectives:

  • improve the management of state-owned assets in the wider public interest
  • increase the port's contribution to the socio-economic development of the territory;
  • strengthen the role of the port of Savona Vado in order to reinforce the Ligurian port system;
  • consolidate and strengthen the presence of the incumbent operators through the diversification of port functions in relation to new market demands;
  • develop new port activities in response to the market evolution;
  • respond promptly to the emerging needs of all customers;

Therefore, the actions of the Port Authority should be carefully planned in order to ensure:

  • administrative simplicity and transparency
  • processes effectiveness and efficiency

Aiming at activity optimization, by defining, through a system of procedures, the proper way to act and to control the various stages of the processes, the Port Authority of Savona decided to implement a management system which should include, among its basic requirements, the quality of its products and services, according to the international standard ISO 9001:2008, and to obtain the certification by an independent third party.

In order to trigger a continuous improvement process of the organization and of its operating procedures, the President is committed to establishing yearly measurable improvement goals for the different sectors and to act consistently to achieve them.

The framework for the setting of targets is as follows:

  • continuous improvement of the processes, with particular reference to meeting applicable legal requirements and internal standards
  • continuous improvement of the services provided and of the initiatives promoted, with particular reference to meeting the needs of the community and of the port users

To attain the quality objectives set, the President is committed to ensuring the availability of qualified staff and adequate resources, and the continued involvement and training of the organization’s staff.
Furthermore, the President is committed to spread the knowledge of this quality policy and of its objectives among all the staff, also involving the city, the port community and all the suppliers, and moreover, he is committed to support the application of this policy making sure that it is understood
