Liguria can offer a broad range of colours, though the
nicest are certainly those of the Riviera delle Palme and its hinterland:
the clear blue of the sea, a paradise for surfing, windsurfing, sailing
or diving and where you may admire cetaceans; the blue sky streaked by
hang-gliders, the green hills full of horses and mountain-bikes, the brown
rocks, and the white ski slopes.
Babbling brooks, fresh shadowing woods with
mushrooms and fur and feather, flocks and herd, rows of vines and fields
laying in the sun, villages of stone reminding a rich past, castles and
churches, sanctuaries and fortresses.
Savona district can also be seen as a large sport facilities
system in the open air, with a broad range of agonistic events: from the
traditional ones to the very new. The proof of it is that Savona APT (Tourism
Advertising Agency) is present at the Motorbike Show in Milan. Road and off-the-road racing represents
a significant niche in the range of the tourist products of the "Riviera
delle Palme", where in fact take always place activities for specialists
and amateurs.
As for gastronomy we
can offer mushrooms, truffles, rabbit-, chicken- and wild boar-meat, while
along the coast anchovies, "bianchetti" (a kind of fish) and
fish soups. Everywhere pesto, artichokes- and chickpeas-pies, stuffed
meat.
Tourism represents for Savona a central
activity.
The Port Authority too is trying to improve the waterfront and the spare-time
activities linked to the sea, in order to bring Savona back to its ancient
brilliance: already during the XIX century the Riviera delle Palme was
a famous seaside resort for tourist, who used to call it "the nicest
spot in the world".
